The estate CENNATOIO is managed by Leandro and Gabriella Alessi since 1970. For a few years now, collaborates also their son Emiliano. The special nature of the soil, Galestro, rocky and hard to till, further the exposition towards south, is ideal for the varieties like Sangiovese Grosso, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The last two varieties give most pulpy, silky wines with scents of berries. An anecdote informs that the word CENNATOIO comes from “CENNO” which derives from the vicinity of the place with “le Stinche Alte”, outpost and jail of the Republic of Florence during the Medici area when CENNI (signs) were made to the Medici soldiers from the courtyard of the mansion.
CENNATOIO is a certified organic winery. The enological art of Dr. Luciano Bandini and his trustworthy Cellar Master Ildegarda Agnelli is the pride of Cennatoio. We produce Chianti Classico Riserva, Super Tuscan and Occhio di Pernice.
