La Massa

Tenuta La Massa is the dream of Giampaolo Motta, a Neapolitan by birth and a Tuscan by choice, who has embodied the deep bond between man and terroir since 1992. Located in the stunning Conca d’Oro of Panzano, at the heart of Chianti Classico, the estate spans 25 hectares of vineyards facing southwest. Following an extensive restoration of the vineyards and a thorough study of the soils, Giampaolo has made viticultural and winemaking choices aimed at allowing the land’s natural strength to express itself freely. This vision has given rise to two unconventional red wines: La Massa, the estate’s signature blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the prestigious Bordeaux-style Giorgio Primo. In 2011, a pure Sangiovese made its debut: Carla 6, named after Giampaolo’s daughter and sourced from plot #6, a unique site with grey schist and sandy soils. Drawing from the experience and vineyard heritage of Giorgio Primo, a new single-varietal wine was born in 2019. This time, a 100% Merlot dedicated to Giampaolo’s mother, Marisa: Asiram, making its official debut this year.
